The First Vice Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Pius Amewu in Nkwanta South has pledged massive support for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2026 general elections, assuring him of 90 percent of the constituency’s votes.
Addressing party supporters during Dr. Bawumia’s visit to the area, the Vice Chairperson recalled the 2023 campaign period, noting that the constituency had stood firmly behind the Vice President at the time and would do so again because their confidence in his leadership “has not changed.”
“In the past, you came here and asked us to vote for you — and we did. You won that election. However, your bid to lead the country did not succeed, and we see that not as your failure alone, but as a collective setback for us as a party,” the Vice Chairperson said.
“Today, you are here once again, seeking our support, and I want to assure you that Nkwanta South will give you 90% of the votes in 2026. We are confident that you are the only one capable of winning power for the NPP in 2028. We have no desire to remain in opposition, so we will not cast our votes for anyone who cannot bring us victory.”
The Vice Chairperson emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities, humility, and forward-looking vision make him the most marketable candidate for the NPP. According to her, the reasons that informed their previous endorsement remain valid, as the Vice President continues to demonstrate competence and commitment to the party’s ideals.
